The foundation course is designed to help prepare international students who have completed secondary education for undergraduate level study at a UK university. The course-specific content ensures the student attains the level of language, academic and study skills required to meet the requirements of their chosen bachelor degree.
Being based on university campus, students will benefit from a supportive environment where they can receive additional guidance and a valuable introduction to university life with access to libraries, sharing of facilities, integration with university students and the option to join social clubs.
On successful completion, the student will directly progress to their chosen degree. The programme is generally a three-term programme (one academic year) and is classified as level 3; the equivalent of A-Levels. There are several pathways to choose from that are developed specifically for relevant university degrees, these include:
- Art and Design
- Law and Social Sciences
- Engineering and Sciences
The foundation model has proved successful and our partners have shown exceptional results and progression rates. With an easy transition into university and enhanced academic potential, students who have completed their foundation have shown higher performance in their second and third year at university.
- Study Group ISC programmes achieve 87% progression rates
- The University of Sussex is home to the first International Study Centre (ISC) by Study Group. It has been the proving ground for this innovative and highly successful concept, providing a significant increase in international student numbers with a 98% progression rate.
- Cambridge Education group Foundation results were exceptional. 79% of Undergraduate Foundation students achieved A*-B, 57% achieved A*-A. 72% of confirmed students progressed to a top 50 UK university or University of London College.
- 85% of students who completed their Kaplan International College London pathway course received and accepted an unconditional offer to the University of Westminster.
- 94% of students who completed their University of Brighton International College pathway course received and accepted an unconditional offer to the University of Brighton.
- 98% of students who completed their Nottingham Trent International College pathway course received and accepted an unconditional offer to Nottingham Trent University.
